6:45p - February post mortem + March predictions
February playtime was pretty much dictated by the 360 as I got my teeth into a few different titles, both full price and Arcade.
[eM] eNCHANT arM: I've got 75% complete with 35 hours on the clock. It's a decent RPG and I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. The conversations between characters are stupid/funny and whether it's intentional or not, the game ends up being a parody of most JRPGs. Worth playing for amusement.
Zuma: I got over the previous hurdle and am now stuck on level 9 at the end of the third temple. I've made it to the last stage in this level a couple of times now, but both times I was down to my last life. I got the 24 hr and Son of Sun achievements, so at least I have something to show for my dedication.
Full Auto: I haven't played this much since the initial play in my last post, but I'll be putting some more time into it when [eM] is out of the way. If any of you guys get it, let me know so we can hook up for online battles.
Crystal Quest: Thoroughly boring compared to the excitement of Geometry Wars and Mutant Storm Reloaded. Perhaps it's because it starts so slowly and there's no way to jump into the action. Even on the hardest setting it's cake until stage 16. You can buy a more difficult setting for 100 points or something, but that really should have been included in the default package. The achievements are a piece of piss to get, so if you dig that, go for it.
Outpost Kaloki X: A fantastic micromanagement sim that I downloaded last night and got addicted to right away. If you mention stuff like Civilization and Zoo Tycoon, you imagine games that last for hours, but each stage can be finished in around 10 minutes or so. It's really short, sharp fun, but lots of thinking is involved too.
Mother 2: I just started playing this, to see what all the excitement is about. I started playing Mother a couple of years ago, but gave up because it's so insanely hard. Hopefully this is a little more enjoyable.
Lost Magic: I finally managed to get past a level that was giving me a lot of trouble at the weekend and I haven't played it past that stage. If I get chance, I will play more, but there's a few decent DS titles on the horizon, so I might not play much again.
I didn't really touch the games I bought this month - Gradius Portable, Kameo and Baten Kaitos II. They'll be stored away for future free time. I'm definitely waiting to get a HDTV before playing Kameo, though.
March shopping:
Definites 02 Mar: DS lite 02 Mar: Seiken Densetsu - Children of Mana (DS) 02 Mar: Shunkan Puzzloop (DS) 02 Mar: Valkyrie Profile Lenneth (PSP) 16 Mar: Final Fantasy XII (PS2) 30 Mar: Kanji sono mama DS Rakubiki Jiten (DS)
Undecided 09 Mar: IQ Mania (PSP) 16 Mar: Ace Combat Zero (PS2) 23 Mar: Burnout Revenge (360) 23 Mar: Cooking Mama (DS) 30 Mar: Contact (DS) 30 Mar: Fight Night Round 3 (360) 30 Mar: Rumble Roses XX (360) 30 Mar: The Combini X (360) 30 Mar: Xenosaga I+II (DS)
Yep, it's one crazy month, that's for sure. Hopefully Oblivion (360) will be either multi-region or out in Asia sometime in March too. And to think, everything will pretty much be ignored after 16 Mar, thanks to FFXII.
