6:14p - Gobusata
Well it's been a long while since a proper update. I spent all of Saturday night (got about 2 hours of sleep) rearranging the room and unpacking a few boxes that had been lying around for a while. Before moving everything around, the room felt tiny, with a huge sofa in the middle of it, but after pushing the sofa against a wall, and moving my TV and game systems onto a different wall, it looks really spacious. Should post some pics soon...

I put all my game mags in the bottom of a closet, and will start the endless process of scanning them someday soon. And I put nearly all my CDs behind the sofa. I'd been burning stuff onto my PC using iTunes, but this weekend I realised the quality was abysmal, and nearly every album has 2-3 skips. So I'm going back through everything and ripping again with the highly-regarded EAC/LAME combo. Unfortunately, since a lot of my CDs are old, EAC has a really hard time getting pure data off some of them, and it can take more than an hour to rip some of the older discs. I think I'll have to relax this and make do with a slightly lower setting for the sake of efficiency.

As part of the tidying process, I'll be selling off a load of games again. This time, I'm probably going to get rid of the Saturn *shock*. I love to have it around, I'll always be fond of Nights, and it's probably the best platform on the planet for shmups, but I've only plugged it in twice in the last five years. Hopefully Wii Nights will not disappoint. And I'll pick up all the Parodius / Gradius / etc. games for PSP now that the new PSP can play stuff back on a TV. I'm really losing the collector spirit I had a few years back. All of it means very little to me now. I'm losing my materialisting tendencies for some reason, but I'm very satisfied with that change.

I've had a bit of time for gaming too - finished off Phantom Hourglass, put many hours into Forza 2's career mode, did a bit of diving in Forever Blue, and also started Biohazard 4 Wii (thanks, [info]cvxfreak). Phantom Hourglass is a great breath of fresh air for the Zelda series. Sure it has all the same items again, but the touch-screen gives everything a new twist and it feels so exciting to play. Forza 2 is a huge time sink, but I'm finally getting the hang of a lot of the tracks, and falling in love with certain cars. It's pushing me closer and closer to getting my driving on in Tokyo. I got my license last year purely for hiring a van to pick up my boxes I shipped over from the UK, but it's about time I rented a car and go for a drive just for the hell of it.

Forever Blue and Biohazard 4 complement each other quite well. Biohazard is nowhere near as terrifying as some of the earlier games in the series, but it is still close to my tolerance level. Lots of "where the hell did that come from" moments, but all are quite plausible when you stop to think about them. The game seems quite fast paced too - once you encounter someone, the floodgates open and the ammo just disappears. I'm playing it on easy because I'm a pussy, but I aim to play it through to completion, which will be a first for me and the series. Forever Blue, is a perfect post-Biohazard pre-bedtime game. It's totally relaxing, even when you're faced with sharks, because you know nothing can hurt you. It has an online co-op mode too, which mostly seems pointless, and suffers from typical Nintendo issues like not updating your offline fish catalogue with fish you find while online. Aargh. But it's a good thing to have in the collection for those moments when you don't know what to do with yourself.

The year end approaches, with lots of great music, games and events coming up... I'll gather my thoughts for next time.
