Infobomb
Spending three weeks away from home makes me feel ultra productive when I come back, as if I have to catch up on three weeks of stuff that I didn't do. I got home on Monday evening, and had so much to do that I didn't sleep before work on Tuesday. It was only a half day, so I didn't think it would be such a serious issue. I felt like crap though, and couldn't do anything besides sifting through 900 new mails. Got home in the afternoon, called the post office to arrange for parcels to be redelivered in the evening, then put my head down to relax for a bit. I woke up at 1am o_O

PSP rainbow
If you've got a PSP, you may have noticed the colour of the OS changed in January. It actually changes every month, though. Sony's site has a list of the colours, but here is a translation.

Jan: White
Feb: Light yellow
Mar: Pea green
Apr: Pink
May: Green
Jun: Light purple
Jul: Turquoise
Aug: Dark blue
Sep: Purple
Oct: Yellow
Nov: Brown
Dec: Red

MGAC!D passwords
Also PSP-related, Metal Gear AC!D has a password function allowing you to get bonus cards by entering a code. I've picked up a few of these codes from GameFAQs, but there's also some from some Japanese men's mags that give you minute long clips of Japanese idols doing photo shoots, in game!

The passwords for the Japanese idols are:
SABRAGE - Yuka Kosaka character card
NOMEL - Asaki Yoshida character card
ELYTS - Yuu Saitou character card
MAEB - Eri Shibuya character card

Other passwords are:
VIPER - Viper (Metal Gear Ghost Babel) character card
MIKA - Mika Slayton (Snatcher) character card
KAREN - Karen Hojo (Policenauts) character card
JEHUTY - Jehuty (ZOE) character card
XMEIGHT - XM8 weapon card

Reminder to self: Check new issue of Popeye on Saturday.

Lumines skins/scores
Compiling a list of skins and high scores at GAF.
Check it out.
There are supposedly 44 skins, and only 39 are known about for now. Seems like some of them have weird requirements to unlock though, so we might not get a full list for some time. Personally I'm only as far as Spirits in Challenge mode, but I'm getting better as time passes. I tend to improve every other game I play. It's like 2 steps forward, 1 step back, or something. Great game, but I still find myself cursing at the interface - I guess they had to rush it for the PSP launch.

Frances the Mute
The new Mars Volta album is being released in Japan on 7 February (almost a month ahead of the US?). Regular edition will cost 2548 yen and special edition will cost 3300 yen. The special edition comes with a DVD and will only be available in Japan apparently. No details of what is on the DVD yet, but with a 750 yen difference, it should be decent enough. Hopefully it includes the 15 minute title track that isn't actually on the album! TMV will also be playing live in Tokyo at Sonic Mania on 5 February, but 10000 yen for a day ticket is a bit steep for me. I hope they announce some separate gigs later in the year.

Final Final Fantasy XI
This will probably be the last FFXI book I buy, but it's a good one. Final Fantasy XI Life in Vana'diel has a lot of information about the main NPCs in the game, full hierarchies of the beastmen tribes, and detailed histories of each of the nations in the game. If only someone would make a book as detailed and well-presented as this in English! It doesn't contain as many illustrations as the previous book I pimped, Final Fantasy XI World Concept, but it's very well written. It also contains the only known illustration of the Hume-Elvaan mix, Enid Ironheart, and a DVD including interviews with developers.

You crazy FFXI addict.

Hmm, has there ever been art of the elusive male Mithra?

I heard rumors there were...but failed at tracking them down.

Pure sex, right? They gotta be.

I've never seen any, but I'm sure if there is some you would find it in doujinshi rather than official publications ;)

Unbelievable, you get the CD before us, maybe it's revenge for us getting DS before you? ┐('~`;)┌ You have to upload the CD when you get it so we can hear it the way it was meant to be heard. It's such a good CD, I find myself just turning up the volume at certain parts without even thinking about it/meaning to. I'm almost tempted to import it :D

Speaking of FFXI, check the emails I sent you as soon as you can >_>

Good luck getting back into gear at home, hope you enjoyed your trip ヽ(^。^)ノ

Jonny, how is Metal Gear Acid? Shin Sangoku Musou sucks, and there are no other games to get, wondering if I should get MGA.

I'll let you know when I've played a little more.
Tutorial mission was OK, but like the MGS games, it has a LOT of babbling. Something that is hardly suited to portable gaming.

I hope at least we can skip it like MGS3, its pretty funny the save file girl advertises Godzilla Final Wars in the game though. I've heard that MGA plays more like a RPG than MGS, which is possibly not the best thing. Looking forward to hear what you think.

The babbling is usually the good part ~_^ And don't you have some sort of instant messaging service Jonnyram?

the babbling is so good that I think they spent more time recording the babbling than actually making the game.

I want that FFXI book! I like reading the english Tribune (minus some of the ghey talk) because it really fleshes out the game which has been so mysterious in some aspects.

Mars Volta CD coming out? Excellent!

With the PSP taking up your time, is the DS now collecting dust? Seems like you're very pleased with the PSP.

Hehe...yes it would consume you. Perhaps summer time or something would be best. By that point I'm sure the first expansion will be out, or at least on its way. That will serve to make it even more tantalizing!

So wait the Widow isn't going to be released on the cd but as a single of which has the code to say what you are lisiting to on the album?

Nonono, The Widow is on the album, and the one you heard on that site Mr.Jiggs posted is just the sampler. The single/EP is a different track called Frances the Mute which is not on the album, apparently.

Those MGS cards are pretty hilarious. For the idol cards, you lose HP if you use the card to view the video during play. :)

Any other passwords turn up yet??

hey jonny..
I don't normally use livejournal, so I'm on a friends account..
the life in vana'diel book you purchased is RIGHT up my alley in regards to the game..
I have been working on a history of vana'diel faq (on gamefaqs now) for a looooooooooong time and the info in that book you got would go great with it..
I understand it's not in english but is there anything you can tell me that the book offers information wise? I am dying for knowledge!

Jade
